La Verne Heritage foundation

Today we visited the La Verne Heritage foundation with our mommy and me class. We had never been before and it was a treat!

Our teacher Miss Donna set up a field trip tour so not only did we get to play at the park; we got to explore the grounds! Our tour started with a tractor ride through the Orange grove. January- March you are actually able to go and pick your own Oranges. We heard about the history of the park and learned that La Verne was once all orange groves!

We stopped at some cages filled with chickens, rabbits, and a HUGE Turkey.  We saw live butterflies and learned about a few different insects. Rad liked looking at the animals but after a few minutes he was ready to explore some more. Once of his favorite things he saw was a tractor and the large windmill!

Each child was able to pick out one orange. The volunteer cut each orange into halves leaving one side larger. We sat at a table to juice our orange and were able to drink the fresh juice we made. The oranges tasted AMAZING and you are able to purchase a large bag for only $5.00.

Once our juice was finished we walked over with our large orange side that had been hollowed out and was given a Johnny Jump Up flower to plant in it! This was my favorite part! Rad and I were able to continue our fun at home and now get to watch our flower bloom until next Fall!

Would we go again?

Absolutely! All of the volunteers were so friendly to all of our kids and they had such a great time exploring somewhere new.

During the fall La Verne Heritage offers a pumpkin patch, and during the summer concerts in the park. We will be returning for both events!
