Fizzing Shamrocks! Fun St. Patricks Day activity.
It’s officially March and our house is COVERED in GREEN! Celebrating and decorating for the holidays is something that makes me really happy. I love making things exciting for our kids and I love seeing pretty things too.
We are starting out this month by trying out a fun craft made with a shamrock.
Materials needed::
Baking soda
Paint brushes
A cup of lemon juice or vinegar
A plastic syringe
Card stock cut into shamrock shapes of all different sizes
Green food coloring
Step # 1- Cut your shamrock shapes and if your kids are old enough, have them help with this part.
Step #2 You are going to want to make your fizzy paint - I used 1/4 cup baking soda to 1/4 cup of water and added a few drops of green food coloring in.
Step #3 Put some lemon juice in a small cup and put different tools to get the vinegar onto the paper- for example a syringe, spoons, ect.
I layed our shamrocks on an old cookie sheet so the kids had a wider surface to paint on.
Have your children paint the green fizzy paint on the shamrock and decorate it however they would like. Next- let them squeeze some vinegar out of the syringes and other tools to see the reaction it makes on the paint!
We played with these Shamrocks for 30 minutes and then decided to make other colors too!
We hope you have a great time doing this activity- make sure to leave a comment and let us know how it went. :)
